Underwood European Tour Summer 2k17

Last Monday morning, I got into the car with President and Sister Brown so that we could start the 8 city zone conference tour. I am so grateful that they asked if I would come with them. In the car, you are able to see a different side of them that most people don't get to see. They tell you their favorite movies and scriptures and foods and anything else because the drive from Lyon to Bordeaux is about 6 hours long. When I got to the Bordeaux apartment, i picked up the juggling balls and started to juggle. What I didn't know is that Elder Eberhard is a juggling pro and he basically made my skills look silly. The Perigueux Elders also stayed the night there. I was so happy to talk about all of the people that I knew in Perigueux. I heard that the Garcias are doing great. I never realized how much i could love and miss them. My heart is still in Perigueux.

On Tuesday, we woke up and played ultimate frisbee because Elder Eberhard is a pro at that too. We got to the conference later and the Zone Leaders killed it! They had about 8 members come in order to do role plays. The sister training leaders also did a really good training followed by a delicious lunch. One of the best missionary meals that I have ever had. I also found out that Elder Tanner is youtube famous. He has a channel called the tannerites. Apparently they are very popular.

We left bordeaux for Toulouse and my favorite part of the night was the public transportation that we took on the way back to the apartment. The first guy that I talked to knew who we were, but he wasn't interested. The lady that I talked to also knew exactly who we were and I gave her a card because we only had like 20 seconds. It was cool to see that people were informed.

The Toulouse Zone Conference went well too, even though it is a really small zone. They have been losing a lot of equipes to illness or other things. We were going to go to steak and shake after the conference but we didn't have time.

In the car, I have been reading the scriptures because I am trying to finish my goal before I leave. (I actually finished the whole bible today, so i'm stoked about that.)

Some members in Montpellier made us dinner and it was really good. For mangos in Montpellier we went and played basketball. It was really fun because everyone there knew how to play pretty well. I was one of the worse players.

After montpellier we were off to Nice. Nice is one of the most beautiful cities. I am always so happy to be there. President did his interviews in the evening and then took me to dinner. That was really kind of him. And when I say that he took me to dinner, I just mean that we ordered room service and then the Elders came and picked me up and I went to their apartment. The next morning Elder Brown gave me the last haircut that I think that I will need.

I got to proselyte with the Nice zone leaders after the conference. One of their investigators cut me off while i was talking and remarked that we all had nice nails. he said, "you never bite your nails? Are you just never stressed?" We explained that we have stressful things in our lives but that we can lean on God. He said, "well, if it works for you, it must work for me too!"

Our car got broken into. The only thing that they really stole was Elder Wibergs phone. It's worth about 10 dollars though. I also had a Primark watch that I left in there. I had just found it in the apartment and it wasn't even working anymore. The original price of the watch was probably 10 euros. However, as a joke, I wrote rolex on the back with the crown and everything. They stole that probably thinking that it was worth a lot more that it was. They left to two gps though. I really think that they got the worse end of the deal.

On saturday, we went to fenocchios with everyone in Nice. It is very good.

Sunday was good as alsways. We taught Timeo. He will be baptized this saturday.

With love,
Elder Marshall Cluff Underwood

Le thon du saint esprit

I've been driving to Bordeaux today with the Browns. This is just my journal for the week (I stopped having time to write in my paper one). Too bad. I love you!

Lun 17 Juillet 2017
Today we had Timmy time. Timéo will be baptized on the fifth. When we asked him to pray, he started by saying, "Bonjour Père Céleste." Later we asked him about something else (I don't remember the question) but his answer was, "Au moins, je dirais ... BEAUCOUP!" When we were talking about the authority and power that prophets had, and Timéo said, "oh yeah, like the power that Elijah had to unite families." We were awestruck when he said that! That was so amazing that he knew that. We stuck with that for the rest of he lesson.

Mar 18 Juillet 2017
Obrecht move: they gave me a fondue machine. They are really so great. They will definitely be missed in Ecully but they will do a great job over there in Confluence. I had him write his email in my little book.
Faith with sœur Zinn: We picked up sœur Zinn and went to see Faith. Faith was kind of excited to see us but then she just lit up when she saw sister Zinn! She didn't say yes to her baptismal dates but I know hat she will be baptized as soon as she can!
Mami sleeping chicken nuggets: we saw mamie siles and I was so tired. I actually fell asleep and had a dream that I was lifting my legs off of the ground in order to stay awake! She brought us out some biscuits and elder Wiberg said that they looked like chicken nuggets. That made me laugh so hard! I was literally crying in Mamies house.

Mer 19 Juillet 2017
Finish exchange with Montpellier
Cookies to Bastides family
Teach Bastian with Uno and 3 ne 17
Marie-France and Johan fall through with Giuliana. Went to teach Farrell instead.
Mebodo fell through so we had a Corsican porting experience.

Jeu 20 Juillet 2017
Exchange with Elder Wetenkamp. Taught Timéo with Lea and Giuliana. They balled so hard! Amandine wasn't the happiest that we brought them, but they were so amazing. If I can just find a wife that was like them when she was a jeune fille, I will be happy.
We went to teach Juliet with Eric but she cancelled, so we did a comp study with him. He was so grateful and he will be a great missionary.
In the evening we had RCM at brother Bastides home and it went really well. His wife made some of the best lentils that I have ever had! Their family is so cute and I'm so happy that he is our dmp.

Ven 21 Juillet 2017
We started the day with Erica. They made us a great BBQ! I am always so happy to go to their house. Hey are just so cute and happy and sunshiney. Afterwards, we went to teach Juliet with Eric. She is struggling a little bit but Eric remembered exactly what to teach and we gave her a blessing.
We then taught Timéo and Mily the gospel. Some great quotes were, "le repenticession," "le thon du saint esprit" and, "est-ce que vous voulez le don du saint esprit? Oui, comme ça je peux aller au Céleste." What a great lesson.
We then ate with sister Barachant. I think that she is losing it a little bit. But she's so good to us.

Sam 22 Juillet 2017
We helped the Aigbedions move. All of the missionaries were so full of energy, running up and down the stairs. It was so great for them to be able to move into something bigger.
The quades fell through, but we were able to find a great girl named Matilde. She didn't really know what to think about God, but she was very interested in knowing if he was actually there. I am glad that I can still have experiences like that for the rest of my life. All I need to do is pray for missionary experiences and invite.
Lucy got baptized today by Elder Fiala. She has totally flipped her life around. When she came up out of the water, she giggled a little bit just because she couldn't contain her happiness. What a girl.

Sweat, sit, and vomit

Here are a couple highlights from this week:

We went to teach Amandine and she gave us a note. I assumed it was just something to read later so I put it in my back. Afterwards, while we were walking away, I opened it up and we read that he husband had given his children permission to be baptized! So, we'll be getting that done as soon as possible.

At the beginning of the week, we did the mission leadership council. We taught about how to use online proselyting (facebook) safely. We used an analogy that I really loved with the boats built by the brother of Jared. Technology opens a lot of doors, and we are the only ones that can choose which doors it opens. There are two doors, one of the ceiling of the boat and one on the floor. If we open the one above, we get air and light. If we open the one below, we get dead. It went really well. I enjoy presenting with Elder Wilkey and Elder Wiberg.

Love,
Elder Marshall Underwood
